Under the blanket...

*i've been in bed for the past 24 hours...stomach virus...ugh...feeling better today.

*i've been drawing up a storm and just finished four pieces for a nyc hospital...more details/pics soon.
*my folks were in town for the holiday...loved every minute of it...we didn't do the turkey/fixings...instead, i cooked an amazing piece of wild sockeye salmon with asparagus, herb salad, praline sweet potatoes and my mom/dad picked up ridiculous desserts from la bergamote...

Put a sheet over your head...

*we've been building quite a few tents in our apartment and my son is a huge fan...it's always good to create a little nook for yourself...and snacks/fave things/books help too...get cozy.
*thankful thankful thankful...yes i am...i'm a lucky girl...enjoy the holiday folksss

*a few folks have emailed and asked if we really don't have a television...yeah, it's really true...one year...no tv...we did it on a whim and it wasn't a big deal/statement etc...just something we wanted to try...and it stuck!
*close your eyes get some zzzzz's...count some sheep...dream some dreams...i remember mine (most mornings) and usually talk about them over a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of green tea with my boy...

Exquisite Waste of Time...

*i posted these pics a year ago today...actually on nov.19th 2009...that was the day we took our television out of our apartment and placed it on the sidewalk (it was picked up within an hour...c'est la vie in nyc)...i haven't missed it one bit...our apartment is filled with less "noise" and more playing/singing/music/laughter...

I'm not looking...

*up and out and go and go and go...and go
*raisin toast, green tea, kiwi...
*hummus, shredded beets, shredded carrots, arugula, cilantro pesto, toasted bread...lunch at home
*red lips, his hat, tight jeans, nikes, saturday surf tshirt, black coat
*lists...words...whatever...there you go...

Daniel and Renee...

 ***please take a seat/breath/whatever and meet two folks who have so much spirit and heart that it pretty much breaks me every time i see them...daniel vosovic and renee teichen.

daniel and i have known renee for 1 year (and change) and the three of us finally got out of grumpy and spent an afternoon sipping cider, hanging out in daniel's new space and learning more about the oh so lovely and amazing: renee....

here are daniel's questions to renee...enjoy!

1. what decade would you most like to be a teenager in?  the 1940s.  teenage years are so hard, that i don't feel like one particular time period would suit me versus another… however, i have completely romanticized being in my 20s and 30s in mid century america.  i would love to be able to move around and through the modernist architecture, art, fashion, film, and music that was going on in the 1950s and 60s.  to be able to travel and study and explore that firsthand at the age i'm at now would be amazing.

2. take us through a typical day… through an imagined day.  typical day:  wake up at 5am, kiss joseph goodbye, go to work at chelsea grumpy, go for a long roundabout walk to soho, take the train back to brooklyn, get some groceries, 111, take a shower, have tea, watch a french film, call my family, reorganize something, read, stretch, have dinner and hangout with joseph, sex, sleep… dreamily repeat.  imagined day:  wake up with joseph, make breakfast and coffee at home, surf, go for a walk through the woods, paint, hang out with my family, garden, go sailing and swimming, work on my project/shop/business with joseph, dance, read, make dinner for friends, sex, sleep… dreamily repeat.

3. three songs that would be on your life's soundtrack?  i don't know about songs, but here are three albums:  "ralf and florian" kraftwerk, "glassworks" philip glass, and "tigermilk" belle and sebastian.

4. if you could live in one movie or piece of artwork, what would it be?  movie: wes anderson's "the royal tenenbaums." for this one, i had to go with what came to mind first… but, i'm going to say "the royal tenenbaums" for the greens and reds and pinks and humor and whimsy and family dynamics and movement through space and time.  piece of artwork: monet's nymphéas 1907 and water lilies 1914-26.  i want to live in that world of golden greens and pink and purple blues... to swim through giant panels of his world at giverny that he expressed towards the end of his life.

5. what physical characteristic do you find most sexually appealing in the opposite sex?  hands.
